Blu dropped his album Jesus out of the blue today (worst pun ever). As per most of his music, it has a pretty rough feel and almost seems like it’s something being played on vinyl coming out of your speakers, giving it a nice old school feel. I was pretty pumped when I saw some production by the likes of Alchemist, 9th Wonder, and Madlib. Overall, it’s a nice throwback album in almost every way. Throwback feel, throwback beats, and a throwback sound. Blu has some pretty slick lines and a nice lazy flow. It’s a nice throwback album to add to your collection.

Okay, here is where it gets tricky; the album was originally free, not it’s on BandCamp for $10. There are still some free download links floating around but I’m not sure, it’s all pretty confusing. I thought Jesus’ salvation was free, but it appears Blu might have other plans.

Anyway, my favorite song off the album, also the title track, is below and if you like that you can go to BandCamp and download the whole thing for $10. Or find a free link. Whatever.
