Jay-Z–Izzo (Modern Classics)

I’m really not sure how I haven’t posted any Shawn Carter yet. Hov was one of my favorite artists in my innocent youth and I think the year The Black Album came out I listened to it for a month straight. Here’s my favorite Blueprint track. I still think it’s way infectious and it’s just Jay-Z doing his thing. Also some unknown guy named Kanye West produced it. He became an artist later and has done alright. I don’t know why but I’m not really as big into Jay as I used to be, I would guess it’s because I started looking for more underground artists instead of the one that ran the mainstream. Either way, dude can spit and I still enjoy his music. H to the Izzo.

Pat Dolla$-Dead Presidents

I got this in my submission box the other day and I didn’t know what to expect. Kind of glad I took a look at it.

Patrick Kennedy, aka Pat Dolla$, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and now studies at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. He says he just started rapping seriously in the past year or so.  A little rough around the edges but definitely has raw talent and potential. A diamond in the rough if you will.
In Dead Presidents he raps over the original Dead Presidents by Jay-Z/Nas (This feud is pretty well documented). Some nice lyricism, name dropping our past presidents and some of the issues faced today. Overall, it’s a solid track that you may want to toss on your iTunes.

It’ll be interesting to see this guy’s growth in the future and we’ll be expecting some more stuff from him.
