Odd Future Surprise Concert (Video)

As you’ve probably all heard, Tyler got arrested yesterday (promoting his album?) and Odd Future had a surprise concert at the Troubador in West Hollywood to celebrate the release of Goblin. Looks like there are a ton of dudes there, and they all seem to know all the lyrics, especially for an album that dropped that day. Hmm…Anyway, Goblin is still playing on my iTunes.

I’ve been awake for something like 26 hours straight with all this studying shit so I’m going to bed. Hopefully, I’ll be posting a lot more later tonight. Sleepyhead out.

Swaggin’ out to some Rebecca Black, too

Do what makes you fucking happy, cuz at the end, whose there? You.

I’ve been waiting for this album to come out for over a year. I’ll admit, at the beginning I didn’t know what to think of this seemingly schizophrenic skater kid and his crazy lyrics. But he grew on me. It wasn’t so much the words as much as the passion and the ability to push boundaries that I started to like. Then, I just like everything about him. The charisma, the shows, the interviews, everything. So when I found out a few months ago that Tyler had signed a deal with XL to put out Goblin, I was worried that he would lose some of his creative control. He didn’t lose any.

The album finally dropped today. This is the first album I’ve bought off iTunes since Cudi’s second album if that tells you how much I despise music that costs money. But with all the hype and hope I gave it, it was worth it. I understand that this will be the most polarizing album of the year. Everyone is going to have an opinion and most people are either going to absolutely love it, or absolutely hate it. I don’t really see a medium anywhere. You guys know how much I like Odd Future so you can guess how I feel about the album.

Tyler, The Creator-Thurnis Haley Part III (Video)

Have you ever been to a golfing tournament? Or would you rather see your son sing in a choir?”

Once again, Odd Future brings us another Thurnis Haley video. And once again, it’s hilarious.

It’s funny, I play a lot of golf and Tyler is spot on about their always being that one guy that doesn’t give a fuck about anything else but golfing at every golf course. These are also normally the guys you don’t play with, as they are usually just pricks.

Hodgy Beats-So Long (Snippet)

While in Europe, Hodgy Beats dropped a snippet of a new song he made off his MacBook. The lyrics are drowned out by the beats a bit but the videogame sounding beat is pretty dope. That and the swag trumpet horn at the end.
Hodgy probably has benefited the most from the absence of Earl, as he has improved his rhymes and become Tyler’s right hand man. His MellowHype stuff is crazy good too and it will be interesting to see how the rest of the Odd Future guys progress along with Tyler.

Shout out to PrettyMuchAmazing for the hookup.

Tyler, The Creator-Yonkers Interview (Video)

Tyler explains his Yonkers video at an interview in Europe. This is one of only a handful of serious interviews I’ve ever seen him done. Oh, he also explains the origins of his alter ego, Wolf Haley. This whole thing is pretty deep especially the whole premise of making everything a paradox in Yonkers.

Odd Future-Live in London

As you may know, Odd Future is currently on their tour in Europe. You may also know about that Royal Wedding bullshit finally ended. So what are the odds that while performing, Tyler, The Creator would diss both Kate and William. Yeah, pretty high. And of course he does. Odd Future bringing their normal high voltage energy, crowdsurfing/jumping, and general shenanigans to Europe. Swag.

Tyler, The Creator x Goblin

Sorry this is basically turning into an Odd Future blog the last couple days, but this song really deserved to be posted. I spotted this at HypeTrak.com. You’ve probably heard the snippet to this song, the snippet played when you click on that Goblin popup at a bunch of other blogs. Bass heavy and Tyler’s grizzly voice and flow keep this song tight. Embodies the usually sharp and ridiculous lyricism of Tyler with lines like “Rape a pregnant bitch and tell my friends I had a threesome” and “Cut her like a barber with a Parkinson’s Disorder.” Tyler definitely plays the shock value card but it works because it’s so far out of the box.
This will be on the Goblin album coming out in less than 2 weeks. Respect the artist and buy the album. The hype is tremendous.

Update: Apparently, Tyler claims this isn’t going to be the version on the album. Although it sounds identical to snippet from Amazon. Hmm, I’m speculating that that 20 seconds of beats at the end is all the difference.
