Breakfast Cereal-Crunch Into Some Music

This is your Breakfast Cereal; think of it as your morning delivery. A song to get you going each morning, when we all know you want to sleep in and lay around for another four hours or so. So grab a spoon and dig in.

Sam Adams and Rusko. Pretty sure these guys wouldn’t be talked about in the same conversation unless you were referring to Sammy’s song “Hold On” from his Party Records mixtape. If I had to choose any artist to go over dubstep, I don’t think Boston’s Boy would be my first choice, but in this instance, it works. Rusko is no slouch either.

I’ve been thinking about the emergence of dubstep in hip-hop culture the past few days, as noted in my tweets. I’m still not sure what to think; for the most part I hate dubstep by itself, but when it’s combined with hip-hop it sounds bearable, if not good. I guess it’s the next logical step now that artists are sampling indie music. I feel like I should write a piece on this soon as I haven’t done any actual writing in forever. More on that later hopefully; I don’t have shit to do today so it would make my day somewhat worthwhile.

Yep, you guys know this beat. Drake sampled it in the last month, and before that G-Eazy went over it on his song “Kings” from The Outsider mixtape. Incredible tape by the way. Well, Jai Paul did it first with “BTSTU” and it’s nice and dreamy.

I remember this song got a little bit of play at the end of 2009 and beginning of 2010 but it’s been pretty dormant since then; to the mainstream at least. To me Jai Paul is similar to James Blake as they are both dudes British dudes that make nice, chill beats that just infiltrate your thoughts. Not sure if anything else will come of Jai Paul; I know he’s signed with XL Recordings (you might remember them from an album some skater out of LA put out) but I’m yet to hear any tentative plans for him. Oh well, this could literally hold me over for forever. I feel like you could somehow eat cereal to the beat of the song too. Which would be dope.

Well, first off, I’d like to apologize to everyone for the lack of posts the last few days. I’ve been busy as shit and with a laptop that is no longer functioning it’s a little difficult to keep up with posts. No worries though, a new laptop is on the way. Thank my parents for being such generous folks. Oh, they also took a look at my Twitter today. They described it as “distasteful” and “vulgar.” Pfft, whatever, educated parents. So I might have to avoid using so many “fucks” and “shits” when I tweet and post. You know, just in case I ever want to get a job after college. With this somewhat pointless introduction, I bring you music savant Soulja Boy.

As much as people dislike Soulja Boy for, I don’t know, so many valid reasons, the guy can make some catchy tunes. And is richer than all of us. Unless Warren Buffet follows my blog, which would be dope as hell. For reasons beyond my comprehension, I’ve been listening to this song like crazy the last couple days. I love the beat and Soulja, the inventor of the word “juice,” trys to handicap his amazing vocal ability by utilizing autotune; or cover up his awful voice, depends on who you ask, I say potato, you say tomato, same difference. I wouldn’t recommend waking up and taking the potentially fatal combination of Xanax, cough syrup, and fruit punch, but you know, whatever to get your morning going. Your boss may be pissed as fuck at you, but whatever, you’ll be on such a relaxing high you won’t even care.

Matisyahu is my shit. I like Crystal Method too. Not crystal meth, that shit will fuck you up. Here’s some dope lyrics and visuals to get your morning going. My mom got some Honeycomb cereal today so you better believe I’m going to be eating that delicious food of the Gods this morning. And jamming out to Matisyahu obviously.

Dead Prez is so tight. From their politically motivated music to the fact that “Hip-Hop” was the theme song for the greatest show ever, Chappelle’s Show, obviously. I like to think that this song embodies more than just the lifestyles of a certain subgroup of America but, also it stands for America too; as a country we steal shit all the time, and we always fuck over the system. Perfect song for a shot at Corporate America. So get up for that minimum wage job this morning and stick it to the man. Or at least take a break that is longer than 15 minutes. You crazy bastard.

So, I watched RJ Berger tonight after the conclusion of Gullah Gullah Island. What can I say, watching those shows drunk is fucking awesome. “What You Know” is always on RJ Berger and I think it’s a dope song. The beat is absolutely tremendous and is something that you want to bob your head to. I don’t know why, but I’m always fascinated with British singers just because of their accent. It’s always mesmerizing just to hear a voice so different from what you’re used to hearing. So snag some of this Two Door Cinema Club and try not to vibe out. You will, fo sho.

My stupid  Iowa friends and I don’t normally see eye to eye when it comes to music, especially what is good (my music) and what is awful (their music). We can all agree that Foster The People is dope. I’ll be honest, I haven’t heard a lot of their music but from what I have heard, I like; they have a nice indie vibe about them, and it’s a pretty unique sound at that. Pretty mellow feel and it’s one of those songs that actually cause you to think a little bit. Excellent brain exercise for the morning; “Pumped Up Kicks” is perfect for pumping up your day.
